Monday: Dr Shane Crombie : Shane is professor of communications at LCC International University, Klaipeda in Lithuania. It is a Christian University with students from over 60 countries. Many have experienced war and separation. (LCC International University)
Tuesday: Judy Powell : Judy is a licensed lay minister in the Church of England, based at St Paul's Church, in Camden Square not far from the London Irish Centre. A native of York, she worked in the motor industry before retirement, and also spent a short time as a member of an ecumenical lay community in Surrey. Wednesday: Julia Burton-Jones : Julia is Training and Development Lead for Anna Chaplaincy. Since 2015 she has pioneered Anna Chaplaincy in Kent and South-East London. With a background in adult learning in ageing and dementia, her role as training and development lead includes writing and delivering courses for those exploring being an Anna Chaplain or Anna Friend, and ongoing ministerial education for the growing Anna Chaplaincy network.

Thursday: Pat Gaffney : Pat has been a volunteer with the Seniors Project at the Irish Chaplaincy since 2019. Now retired, she is involved in a local community project linking Kennington, London with Bethlehem in Palestine, is a member of Women in Black who vigil for peace each week in central London and has enjoyed organising walks for the Chaplaincy and Pax Christi over the past few years. Pat worked for CAFOD (Catholic Fund For Overseas Development) for 10 years and was coordinator of Pax Christi for 30 years. (Elderly Support - Irish Chaplaincy)
Friday: Gerry McFlynn : Gerry is project manager of the Irish Council for Prisoners Overseas (ICPO). Gerry joined ICPO in 1993, which since 2003, has been part of the Irish Chaplaincy. From 2008-2010, he worked as full-time chaplain at HMP Wormwood Scrubs. He now co-ordinates ICPO's outreach work for prisoners and their families as well as visiting prisons throughout England and Wales. He is also a founding member of the campaigning group, Progressing Prisoners Maintaining Innocence (PPMI). (Irish Prisoners - Irish Chaplaincy)

Monday 6th June

Our walk starts (11:30am) in the Peace Garden in the grounds of the Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Road, SE1 (near St George s RC Cathedral) ends at the Irish Embassy, Grosvenor Pl.

Suggested donation to the work of the Irish Chaplaincy £10

The walk is approximately 5 miles in length & with stops & a lunch break & should take about 3 1/2 hours. On route we will visit St George's Cathedral, St Bride s Church, Temple & Embankment Gardens, St James's Park

Wear comfortable shoes & bring water & packed lunch. There are plenty of opportunities to drop in & out of the walk, to pick up public transport.

Nearest tube for the start, Lambeth North.

An event with Caritas + other organisations. Meet Westminster Cathedral at 12.30pm, then walk to St James Park for a bring & share picnic at 1pm.

Nazareth House, Hammersmith to St John XXIII School, White City (approx. 3 miles) The day will start with Mass at Nazareth House, 10am. People will need to be at reception from 9.30-9.45 am for a Covid test! Alternatively people can join the walk at 10.45am from the main entrance of Nazareth House. Bring own lunch.

We will celebrate a service for the Solemnity of All the Saints of Ireland on Thursday, November 11th at 3pm in St Patrick's Chapel in Westminster Cathedral, Victoria with Bishop Paul McAleenan.

The service will be followed by tea and cake in the café. All are very welcome.

Walk With Hope

From April 19th-24th 2021 many people will be walking to raise funds for the work of the Irish Chaplaincy, and also raise awareness of the elderly Irish we support in Britain, whether living alone or in care homes or in prison.

London: An organised walk will take place on Wednesday 21st April. Walkers in groups of 6, will depart from Quex Rd Sacred Heart Church from 11am walking to the Irish Embassy in London.
